My Blog About Yoga and Proper Attire

This is not your common yoga blog.

I write about apparel here, which is something lots of yoga practitioners bark at. Probably because it is too shallow, not deep at all and yoga is not about how well you dress, blah blah… Yeah, guess what. I know that.

By no means do I say that to get what you want out of yoga you need to spend tons on fashionable yoga clothes. You absolutely don’t and that’s just the truth.

But I like nice clothes and I like yoga. So, naturally, I dress well even for my yoga classes. What’s wrong with that?

What Does You Ex-Girlfriend Has To Do With Yoga?

Not much, really. It’s just a way of saying that yoga is useful for pretty much everything. Even ex-partner can benefit, you get the idea. Some people don’t wish their exes anything good and that’s not really good karma. If you were looking for more info on this subject, you can learn more if you click here. My ex and me, we were so alienated… and now, we are just friends. And the fact that we both are yoga practitioners has nothing to do with it. It’s all just about love anyway.

By the way yoga and love is a great subject to meditate on. If you want some recommendation on reading, I can only recommend those books:

Eyal Shifroni’s Guide to Iyengar Yoga Practice With Props

Yoga: The Spirit and Practice of Moving Through Stillness by Erich Schiffmann

Insight Yoga by Sarah Powers

Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit – A Return to Wholeness by Donna Farhi

All four are great books and great sources on love, yoga and meditations. Read them if you want to explore many different approaches to doing yoga, you want to learn about various yoga philosophy and how they apply to your daily yoga practice, you do enjoy learning about the body’s systems and vital functions. They will support and enhance anyone’s yoga journey, I have absolutely no doubts about that.

Peace, guys.

About Laura Yoga Inspired Clothing

balanced life with yoga

Laura Yoga is a fast paced ashtanga-based vinyasa yoga practice set to music. Class begins with a few gentle partner body balance stretches, moves to the traditional Ashtanga Chant and a focus on Ujaii  breath, and progresses into a series of sun salutations, with modifications, combined with stabilization and strengthening exercises.  After the warmup, we move through a standing sequence, a seated sequence, and end with finishing poses, pranayama, and savasana.  The work is based on elements from classical Ashtanga, alignment principles from the Iyengar style, Pilates core work, acrobatic strength training, contemporary dance sequencing and technique, and acrobatic-style arm balancing and partner work.  The spiritual emphasis is broad, with a grounding in mindfulness practice, Vipassana meditation, and the cultivation of self and other love through self-reflection.  Everything in the class is optional (except breathing!) and students are invited to modify any pose as needed. You can do 500 extra pushups or watch the whole spectacle from child’s pose if you’d like!  It gets hot & sweaty, so bring a towel and some water.

What does the mighty Wikipedia say about yoga: “Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Yoga is one of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophical traditions. There is a broad variety of yoga schools, practices, and goals in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The term “yoga” in the Western world often denotes a modern form of Hatha yoga, which includes the physical practice of postures called asanas.” So much about Wiki definition and if you want to read the whole article, you can do it by clicking yoga.

And What About the Yoga Fashion?

Basically anything you want to wear on your yoga lesson.

But it’s getting more and more sophisticated as yoga starts being a mainstream say sport activity in US and the EU who follow the whole long tradition from India.

proper yoga attire

You can wear pretty much anything but if you also want to look good AND comfortable, you have a couple of obvious choices. You can go to the old good brands like Reebok, Nike or Adidas. Or – if you want to be trendy and wear something really made for yoga by yoga practitioners – you can go to brands who specialize in yoga wear. Like Yoga Rebel, Om & Ah, Manduka etc. Peace.
